I was wondering if you could help me out. My hair smells “funny”. I am not sure why it just doesn’t smell normal anymore. I have tried shampoos from the store yet it feels like they just mask the problem. Is there something more I should look into?

Smell can create feelings and sensations. Often when people get close to us the first thing they notice is how we smell. Hair can radiate a smell that can unfortunately keep people away. This creates confidence problems and certainly won’t get us any new friends.
Let’s look at a few items to check:
- The environment can cling to your hair. It might seem obvious however smoke can cling to your hair. Often times we might be exposed to smoke through our work or even social settings. Long term exposure can begin to sink deep into your hair.
- You are what you eat. The food you eat doesn’t just affect your waistline. The kinds of food you eat can directly cause the smell of your hair. For example foods such as fried foods, raw onions, and garlic can cause your hair to have a bad smell.
- As awful as it sounds fungus. Fungus that grows on your scalp can cause your hair to smell. Getting to the root of the problem when you have fungus is critical.
WARNING: Do not try and “Shampoo” the smell out of your hair
